SALM

Since the other part of this blog posted Something A La Mode's Rondo Parisiano track I can't stop listening to SALM. I found a couple more funky tunes from them, I just severely dig the strings electro combination and they pull it off beautifully. Rondo Parisiano was probably the best track but these two are fair sick as well. I'm definitely a fan of these guys now.

Something A La Mode - Paris Makes Me Feel Like Dancing

Something A La Mode - G-String

I really want their album

Funky Tooon

Rubix, a DJ/Producer from Holland has release this killllluurrrr track thats so bloody funky. Can't wait for this guy to get big. Also, not sure if it's just cause it's in french but the lyrics remind me of Positif and anything that reminds me of that is gold.

Rubix - Baiser Sur La Disco (Rubix Refix)

Regression

With this warm weather I've been enjoying chilled, progressive tracks so thought post my favourites. Lots are real oldies (hence the title) but goodies and essentials for any electronic music library. I can't define what progressive music is, I believe it's something to do with how a magazine described Sasha & Digweed's music, they were some of the founders of Progressive. It's like trace, it's pretty much just a sound and when you hear it you can call it progressive. I know some of these tracks are 'deep house', 'tech house' and 'minimal' but cbf classifying everything. A few of these tracks have featured on MOS Progression albums, which I highly recommend. You need all of these tracks, they are all fruush.

Cause a lot of these tracks are older, couldn't them all off mediafire

Dr. Kucho! - Patricia Never Leaves The House (Dr. Kucho! Remix)

Kohlbecker & Eilmes - Tabasco (Moguai Remix)
Kohlbecker, Eilmes - Tabasco ( Moguai Remix) by alexhouse
Booka Shade - In White Rooms

Delerium - Silence (Niels Van Gogh Vs Thomas Gold Remix) <-- absolute classic

John Dahlback - Pyramid (Dirty South Remix) <- not as good as the original but all I could find. Still sick though.

Fish Go Deep ft. Tracey K - The Cure the Cause (Dennis Ferrer Mix)
FISH GO DEEP Ft. TRACEY K - the cure & The cause (dennis ferrer edit) by 2pointzeromusic

Trentemøller - Moan (Trentemøller Remix)

Bertie Blackman - Town Of Sorrow (Mic Newman Remix)

Just to reiterate, all this shit is old.. don't jump down my neck cause it's not new music. Just what i've been listening to.

Suck our balls, copyright laws.

We've had a few posts pulled off due to alleged copyright infringements. They were older blogs, but included some goodies on Boy 8-Bit, Fake Blood, Solo and Miike Snow. If you want links to any of our favourite works from these artists email us at wecantgetnosleep@gmail.com

Les Petits Pilous coming to Aus!

Pacey and Jean-Pat, the Parisian duo who comprise Les Petits Pilous are booked in to play in our lovely country. Scheduled for December 12 at Eurotrash (yes, we agree it's gross) this is definitely one you do not want to miss. Despite their venue selection, and the fact that it's being promoted as a "glow stick party", these guys are sure to make Steve Gayoki's recent visit look like a trip to a nursing home. Signed to Boys Noize Records, the label run by the biggest monobrown in electronic music Alex Rhida (Boys Noize), Les Petits Pilous have released some massive tracks and even massiverererer remixes. According to the event poster for their performance "their brand new track 'wake up' is a monster". I agree it's a "monster" track, and if you play it too loud it WILL melt your brain, but for the record it was released on the Wake Up EP on the 29th of July, 2008. But hey...who does their research these days. They had three tracks on Boys Noize Records Volume 1, and have done a myriad of remixes for the likes of Chromeo, Justice, Proxy, Etienne De Crecy, and Heartsrevolution to name a few. The ones to look out for on the night will be:

Les Petits Pilous - Wake Up <--- Will be dropped fo' sho'
Les Petits Pilous - Jolie Fille (The Bloody Beetroots Remix) <--- An essential
Proxy - Raven (Les Petits Pilous Remix)
Justice - DVNO (Les Petits Pilous Remix)

These guys don't really have an 'easy listening' button, but the following tracks are a bit easier to listen to in a non-nightclub environment whilst still maintaining the LPP distortion awesomeness.

Etienne De Crecy & Monsieur Jo - Hannukah (Les Petits Pilous Remix) (One of my personal favourites)
Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin' (Les Petits Pilous Remix)

And here is a taster of the type of audience reaction to expect:

Trashy Shit

I saw a failpost on another blog of a crap remix of this song, so I thought I'd do it some justice with a way better remix. This is a really dirt song, I dig it. You will possibly hate it. It's fair old (earlier this year) but I always enjoy it, especially when the Thriller comes in.

Designer Drugs - ZOMBIES! (Hot Pink Delorean Thrillernight Remix)

Our Dj of the week pick

New segment, most likely to never be repeated... but Stiv "Muztek" Justic deserves it.. Cause he's a real Dj...

I want to be him when I'm older.

What I'm Listening To

Since there isn't much electro goodness choons bouncing around, I've been listening to some older stuff. Since this blog isn't all that old some of it has never gotten a post and may not have deserved one, but here it is anyway.

I'm not gonna write about any of this, just download and decide for yourself.

If you like that get Vitalic's most recent album 'Flashmob'

I understand if you hate that one

I like Bloc Party remixes no matter how ungreat they are.

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)
Oldie but a great song

Hope that fills up your greedy music bellies

Dry Spell

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, we both have los examanes soon. Although, there hasn't been any good shit going around at all... the electro pool has dried up with this hot weather.

Strip Steve has released his EP called 'Delta Disco' recently that is fair decent. Definitely has a disco feel, my two favourite tracks are Dancin' and AM/FM but I couldnt find that one. Buy the EP off beatport if you're digging. Can listen to AM/FM here. We got to see Strip Steve with Shadow Dancer a few months ago. Actually only one of us saw strip steve.... the other half of this blog was out the front being slapped by a girl to impress bouncers. gg no re michael

There has also been an 80kidz remix of Metric's 'Help I'm Alive', which was a pretty good song to begin with but 80kidz have made it better. If you don't know 80kidz, they were on the most recent Kitsuné Maison Compilation with their track 'Miss Mars' and it's a sick track.

(Thanks to Smiles for the Help I'm Alive tip)

Phantasy dropping bombs

Sorry for getting you excited, Nicholas Cage hasn't started producing electronic music. This is the strange record cover from Boris Dlugosch, the German dj and producer who has made a comeback with this monster club-oriented track. Titled "Bangkok", it was released under dj royalty Erol Alkan's 'Phantasy' record company a week ago, and is a guaranteed club/festival staple coming in to the Australian summer. Already dropped by Busy P and Erol at Parklife, this shit gonna be hayyuuuggee. The build up and drop sound quite similar to Major Lazer's Pon De Floor, so if you dig that you'll dig this and vice-versa.
Couldn't find a download link anywhere because Phantasy has been removing them all, but you can listen below. If you're desperado you can buy off BeatPort, otherwise just wait a week.
