In Soviet Russia, music make you

In preparation for the Melbourne Cup long weekend i thought i would provide you with some tunes to pass the time. Presenting the best thing to come out of Russia since Stalin. Oh wait....

The first track is a brand spanking new in-house job from the masterminds at Turbo Recordings. Turbo (founded and run by Tiga) is the home of Russian man of mystery, Proxy. Proxy is the name behind Raven, the absolutely huuugeee festival track of last year. It was announced a while back that Proxy had an EP in the making, but it was all very secretive. A few live set rips of his tracks were available, but they just served to wet the tastebuds for what was soon to come. Finally, we can listen to the single from this ep, titled "8000". It isn't yet available to download so just check out the vid below, however Tiga has been closing his live sets with this track for the past few months and this is my tip as being the new Mars-esque festival sensation. The reason i say this is an "in-house job" by the Turbo boys is because not only was the track produced by Proxy, but fellow Turbo-er (ite?) Thomas Von Party (Tiga's brother) was responsible for directing the video. Shweet vid, and as usual keeping with Proxy's mad-dawgg Soviet theme.

Allow yourself to get over that communist creation and prepare for another. In keeping with the sucking-proxy's-dick theme of this post, the next track is a remix he did for Zombie Nation after the release of their album, Zombielicious, earlier this year. The track is Shottieville, and in my opinion was a seriously overlooked track on this album. Anyway, Proxy has done what he does and added some massive drops whilst keeping with the original theme of the track. Have a geeze, uleh:

Shottieville (Proxy Remix) - Zombie Nation

Who would have picked Proxy to remix a Peaches song? The trailer trash crack whore behind albums such as "Fatherfucker" and "Impeach My Bush", and tracks such as "Fuck The Pain Away" is also responsible for "I Feel Cream" (I don't even wanna know what that means). An uninspiring track on its own, it has been brought to life by the AK-toting Soviet, and is actually...sorta....awesome.

I Feel Cream (Proxy Remix) - Peaches

Lastly, another in-house special from Turbo. It's What You Need (Proxy Remix) by Tiga. Huuugggeee track and was dropped by Tiga and A-Trak at Parklife. If you haven't had it for like...ages, you need to get out more.

Fun choons to get you through the week

Firstly we have a track that Aeroplane dropped at Parklife that was a smash hit. It was a Riptide remix of a track called 'Amsterdam' by Jennifer Delano. Lots of other DJs have been dropping this as well, including Brodinski and Erol. Check it out here, fair dirty, bassy and frush.

Jennifer Delano - Amsterdam (Riptide Remix)

We also have three tracks that pretty much sound the same but are all fun. They all have different rhythms but if you play one after the other it pretty much just makes one long track of awesomeness that will get you bowwwwnsing.

If you're only going to get one get the Noob remix of Lyposuct

Brodinski & Noob - Peanuts Club

D.I.M. & TAI - Lyposuct
D.I.M. & TAI - Lyposuct (Noob remix)

Lastly here's a completely different sort of track. It's a Classixx remix of Drop the Lime's Devil's Eyes. Classixx are a couple of guys that have been doing some remixes around the place recently and being pretty successful. They've remixed the likes of Phoenix and Beni. This is their most recent track, like their others is pretty low key and nice to chill out to. Hope you like it too.

Breakbot Breakdown

Summer is coming, and here at ICGNS we're gonna help you devise the summer playlist of the century. Introducing Breakbot, yet another talented Frenchman signed to Ed Banger Records, the record label headed by busy Pedro Winter (Busy P). If you haven't heard of Breakbot you need to; listen to more music, remove yourself from the large rock you've been living under, and download every single track below. Everyone likes Breakbot's remixes, which is probably because unlike many other artists *cough Fred Falke cough* he doesn't try to remix every single song ever made. His discography reads a bit like a shortened who's who of electronic music, with remixes from Digitalism, Metronomy, Royksopp, Sebastian Tellier, Justice and PNAU. They all follow the same basic principle: Take the original track and make it a zillion times better. Unlike other artists on the Ed Banger label (Mr. Oizo, Justice, SebastiAn) Breakbot's remixes don't bang to please. They sort of cruise along picking up layers with just enough intensity to please even the dirtiest of club rats, but give the perfect ambience for driving, hanging out at the beach or going about your pathetic lives.

First up is Roche (Breakbot Remix) by Sebastien Tellier. Tellier's music is fair chill anyways, but the sound of crashing waves creates a relaxing atmosphere to this track.

You've probably all heard Baby (Breakbot Remix) by PNAU, but if you haven't it's a staple for any itunes collection.

Happy Up Here (Breakbot Remix) by Royksopp needs no introduction. The original track has done the remix rounds after being released on Junior earlier this year.

Metronomy rock. Breakbot rocks. Metronomy + Breakbot = Thing For Me (Breakbot Remix). High pitched call and response vocals with super simple percussion line make this a must have for the fuzzy tingle summer times.

Boy 8-Bit live is going to rock worlds

I know I've already done a Boy 8-Bit post, but this guy deserves another for his Quicksand remix that he just released. La Roux blew up this year in a big way with their self-titled debut synth-pop album. Their shit has been remixed evvverryywhere, especially 'Quicksand' and 'In for The Kill'. The best remix to come out of all this was the Skream remix of In For The Kill, which was massive over blogs worldwide and is a must have for your music library. However, this post is about the man, the magician, Boy 8-Bit and his recent remix of Quicksand. It's fair sick. Once again, he takes a completely different approach to most DJs and has pulled it off. Check it owwt

La Roux - Quicksand (Boy 8-Bit remix)

Ginger ninja 8-bit hits Melbourne on the 2nd of November at Billboard so here's a few more of his tracks to get you in the mood.
It's hard to find a lot of his stuff on the net so try and download his discography torrent. However he did a remix/cover of Dolly Parton's Jolene.. its sick. I can't find the track to download but you can have a listen here.

He has a huuge range of sounds that he drops, check this remix of Burial's Archangel, which I've been digging for quite some time. Lastly here's one of my favourite tracks, but unfortunately can't find it to download. Get his discography torrent, it has all this shit.
This one is often referred to as Gold Dust - My Devil's Gun (Boy 8-Bit remix) but Devil's Gun is actually the band and 'Gold Dust' the song...

Remixes Are Fun

Get Physical Music, the label behind artists such as Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y, Dakar and Djuma Soundsystem have recently released Body Language Volume 8, this time with the the German duo of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary (AKA Modeselektor) behind the decks. These boys have pretty much the widest music palate that you're likely to find, whether it be bottomed-out bass-heavy reggae, hip-hop and dubstep or epic chill times, it is all present in their original work and even more obvious in their Body Language compilation.
Here is a taster of one track from the compilation, it's Djedjotronic's Dirty & Hard (originally released on Boys Noize Records volume 1) mixed with Trilingual Dance Sexperience by The Dorian Project. Strange track, but somehow cool...

Dirty & Hard (Featuring Spoek) Vs Trilingual Dance Sexperience

Remixed song of the day for me is Night By Night, by the Canadian synth-pop duo, Chromeo. One of the Chromeo dudes is A-Trak's brother, and the other one is just a mad snake. Calling themselves "The only successful Arab/Jew partnership since the dawn of human culture", these guys pump out some bouncy, fun tunes, and Night By Night has become a remix favourite for other dj's and producers. The first edit is from Germany's Siriusmo, and is a happy, trebley track perfect for a summer's day chill. The second is by Skream, and is alot lighter than some of his other stuff, but will still make your spleen bleed if you turn the bass up too high.

Mujava's Township

Yes, you probably know all about Township Funk, the track from South Africa's Dj Mujava that every man and his dog have remixed to death. This is the third round of remixes, and by now one would expect that the riff has been chopped, changed and worked to the bone - but it's still alive and well. Sorry to bore you if you've already heard it a zillion times, but below are two remixes I'm diggen right now. The first, by Diplo (one half of Major Lazer) is an upbeat and up-tempo track. At 170BPM it's not really made for the dancefloor, but the high pitched treble notes and thumping bassline make this track worth the download.

Dj Mujava - Township Funk (Diplo Remix)

The Skream remix is a much more chilled track with darker tones, but still has a pretty serious bass line. For your aural pleasure, link is below:

Set us Free

Phonat has been gettin pretty big over the past year around the world. Not really my type of music but his 'Set me free' has made it pretty big following his previous single 'Learn to recycle'. The Avicii remix of 'Set me free' has been gettin some play time on "da decks" at clubs and people were wondering what it is. Although not that inspiring musically, it's a useful song to get people dancing. Here you go little ones.

Phonat - Set me Free (Avicii Remix)

Ah Whoooooo's There?

Riton & Primary 1 are there, bitch. These guys came together to produce this track which was released on Erol Alkan's Phantasy record label in the UK. Whilst once again not a particularly new track, there are some kerraazzyy remixes doing the rounds and we wish dj's would play it more often!

To give you a feel for the track, here is the original version. Wack video, but deserves a listen:

The first remix is done by Style Of Eye, a producer and dj born and based in Sweden. Whilst he's responsible for unique tracks like The Big Kazoo (link below) he unfortunately went and "remixed" Empire Of The Sun, who we hate. This brings him down in our book, but there's no denying his vocal mix of Who's There, with its bouncing bass and creepy, distorted vocals, is testament to this dudes abilities. Download it below.

Style Of Eye - The Big Kazoo

Riton & Primary 1 - Who's There? (Style Of Eye Vocal Remix)

While we're on the topic, this track has also been remixed by Doorly, a UK pioneer of dubstep. Alot more drivey than the Style of Eye mix, this track is guaranteed to make you wanna get off your arse, go outside, and punch a small dog in the face. Enough said.

Riton & Primary 1 - Who's There? (Doorly Remix)

If you dug that, Doorly has just announced an upcoming Australian tour kick starting on Feb 1st. Yeeewwww.

One of the reasons why we're not attending Aoki on Friday.

Personally, I/we don't like Steve Aoki that much. He can give a live performance which is good, but his music taste is.. questionable. This track entitled 'I'm in the house' is reminiscent of another failed 'black eyed peas' track that goes for cheap crowd appreciation with no effort in the music and is one of the reasons why he's a shit kent.

Here is 'I'm in the House' - Steve Aoki & Zuper Blahq: http://www.mediafire.com/?ymewmqmwmwu for your lolling pleasure

Solo

This guys been around for a while but is relatively unheard of but has been churning out decent music for some time now. He combines some fresh sounds that's different to a lot of the junk going around now. Enjoy..

We're sick of n00bs being djs and shit bloggers who have no music taste or knowledge so we're here to help them l2p (we realise how gay this is). Firstly major lazer (diplo + switch dream team) is gonna rock falls festival so we thought you should know what you're getting yourself into, here's a live clip from a performance in stockholm, sweden and it looks ba nanas
