Breakbot Breakdown

Summer is coming, and here at ICGNS we're gonna help you devise the summer playlist of the century. Introducing Breakbot, yet another talented Frenchman signed to Ed Banger Records, the record label headed by busy Pedro Winter (Busy P). If you haven't heard of Breakbot you need to; listen to more music, remove yourself from the large rock you've been living under, and download every single track below. Everyone likes Breakbot's remixes, which is probably because unlike many other artists *cough Fred Falke cough* he doesn't try to remix every single song ever made. His discography reads a bit like a shortened who's who of electronic music, with remixes from Digitalism, Metronomy, Royksopp, Sebastian Tellier, Justice and PNAU. They all follow the same basic principle: Take the original track and make it a zillion times better. Unlike other artists on the Ed Banger label (Mr. Oizo, Justice, SebastiAn) Breakbot's remixes don't bang to please. They sort of cruise along picking up layers with just enough intensity to please even the dirtiest of club rats, but give the perfect ambience for driving, hanging out at the beach or going about your pathetic lives.

First up is Roche (Breakbot Remix) by Sebastien Tellier. Tellier's music is fair chill anyways, but the sound of crashing waves creates a relaxing atmosphere to this track.

You've probably all heard Baby (Breakbot Remix) by PNAU, but if you haven't it's a staple for any itunes collection.

Happy Up Here (Breakbot Remix) by Royksopp needs no introduction. The original track has done the remix rounds after being released on Junior earlier this year.

Metronomy rock. Breakbot rocks. Metronomy + Breakbot = Thing For Me (Breakbot Remix). High pitched call and response vocals with super simple percussion line make this a must have for the fuzzy tingle summer times.
